The leaner Mississippi Mills Council has taken office.
There are now seven members at the table, versus the eleven up until now.
The inaugural meeting was Tuesday at the Almonte Old Town Hall.
Almonte Ward has two councillors, there are two Ramsay representatives and one for Pakenham.
A former Mayor, John Levi holds the new position of Deputy Mayor.
Christa Lowry, a third generation Ramsay politician, who ran on a platform of building community unity, is the Town’s new Mayor.
Lowry says she has a debt to all of the representatives who preceded her in the chief executive’s role.
Lowry says there’s one big ticket item that may dominate the coming term- reconstruction in downtown Almonte.
Council’s term of office will be 2018-2022.
