Halloween can be a night of good, spooky fun. Collecting candy, seeing the immersive and colourful decorations.
However, not all may be able to experience Halloween like everyone else. Many people struggle with sensory sensitivities which prevents them from participating in many activities involving bright, loud and realistic decorations.
Lucas Power, Recreation, Program and Events Coordinator with the Town of Arnprior says the event is meant to be inclusive of everyone.
Trunk or Treat takes place midday Saturday, October 31st from noon until 2 p.m. Vehicles will line the parking lot at Robert Simpson Park and everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the day.
There’s a couple of rules to participate to ensure the event is enjoyable and safe for everyone.
Afterwards, the town is hosting their Haunted Hall at the Nick Smith Centre from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m.
From 2 p.m. till 5 p.m. is the toned down, calmer version of the hall. The event will still be a bit more intense than the Trunk-or-Treat, but the lights will be on and the jump scares will be turned off.
From 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. is when the real scary stuff happens and might not be the best place to be if you’re impacted by flashing lights, jump scares and loud noises.
The night is in good spooky fun and is there for everyone to enjoy.
If you’d like to participate by handing out candy at the Trunk-or-Treat, you can register here.
