The election saw a lot of municipalities have major turnover in their councils, except in Arnprior. The town only saw one new councillor take a seat.
Alexis Young takes over from Ted Strike, who decided not to run for re-election. Strike was appointed to the role after councillor Billy Denault became the MPP for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke. She says she’s excited to bring some new ideas to the table.
She’s worked as a public servant, she’s volunteered in the community and has a Master of Arts in Public Administration. Young is hopeful to create some fresh starts on municipal governance within town hall.
Young has been involved in the community for quite some time. Being an organizer of the Great Arnprior Trash Hunt, fostering for the Arnprior Cat Rescue and being involved in the Witch Walk downtown.
During her campaign, she says she was able to connect with residents while door knocking and hear where the town could be doing more for people. All the candidates were extremely helpful getting her campaign off the ground and running strong.
Town staff now has the task of preparing for the next term of council. The current term will wrap up on November 14th and the new one will begin the following day.
The first inaugural council meeting and swearing in will take place Monday, November 16, 2026.

- Lisa McGee
Deputy Mayor:
- Dan Lynch
