Advanced voting is under way and it’s a mad dash to election day. WOW FM reporters reached out to candidates running for seats around the council table in Arnprior, to give them the opportunity to share their platform with you, the voter.
In this article, you will be able to read the platform of Leslie Anne Hook running for a seat on council in the Town of Arnprior. This is her submission.
Hi neighbour! I’m running for Arnprior Town Council to bring a collaborative and modern approach to municipal leadership.
The decisions we make today will shape the future landscape of Arnprior. I want to protect what makes our community special while embracing new opportunities for growth.
My Back to Basics platform reflects what I’ve heard from residents: safer roads and sidewalks, reliable municipal services, responsible spending and accessible communication from Town Hall.
I believe in supporting the businesses already here while welcoming intentional growth that strengthens our local economy. And don’t let the basics fool you! I’ll champion arts and culture, protect greenspaces and create opportunities that build bridges between generations.
I moved to Arnprior in 2015 with my husband Dave and our children Brandon and Emma. We’re grateful to call this community home. I bring a voice for families and will advocate for more opportunities for youth.
I’m a small-business owner who produces local events and publishes our community magazine. I’ve also spent years supporting residents through a regional helpline including crisis intervention and system navigation. That experience shaped my People First approach: listening without judgment and remembering that behind every decision is someone whose life will be affected.
Throughout this Council term, I’ve served on the Culture and Diversity Advisory Committee, most recently as Chair while contributing to our Museum’s new Strategic Plan.
I studied Law at Carleton University and am pursuing my Master’s in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, building on my experience in fund development, research and public policy advocacy.
I believe a united, focused and high-functioning Council is our best path forward. I’ll bring fresh ideas, challenge the status quo and always lead with integrity.
I’m prepared and ready to serve from day one.
I hope to earn your trust and your vote this October.
Election day is October 26th and advanced voting is now open. If you’ve received your voter information letter, you can submit your vote now. If you haven’t or need assistance voting, a Voter Assistance Centre has been opened town hall to help with any issues.
