The Beachburg Fair team is working to put together a thrilling and spooky Saturday night event for people to get into the Halloween spirit, and its organizers say they need some help making it happen.
Amber Buchan, the junior fair coordinator for the Beachburg Fair, says her team is recruiting volunteers to help out with their second annual Halloween Haunt.
Buchan says she needs some volunteer scare actors to help put a little festive fear into the hearts of attendees.
Anyone old enough to do the job unsupervised is welcome to lend a hand, and Buchan says high school students can use this as a fun opportunity to get some of their required volunteer hours in.
The Halloween Haunt starts at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th.
Volunteers are asked to arrive a bit early at around 5:30 so they can get a lay of the land and organizers can decide where to place individual scare actors.
For attendees, after two hours of “small scares” for younger children and families, an intermission will be held starting at 8:00 p.m. featuring a fireworks show courtesy of RC Fireworks and the Whitewater Fire Department.
Once that hour-long display wraps up, an hour of frightful fun for older attendees will take place, with the Halloween Haunt expected to wrap up completely around 10:00 p.m.
A free community skating session is being held parallel to the Halloween Haunt by the Beachburg Recreation Association. Donations will also be collected for the local food bank and for Whiskers and Alley Cats animal rescue.
Prospective volunteers are urged to contact Buchan via email.
