The Pontiac’s push to strengthen its local food system is earning recognition at the provincial level.
The MRC Pontiac’s AgriSaveur project has received the 2026 Municipal Leadership Award from the Fédération Québécoise des Municipalités, which is handed out annually to recognize projects whose innovative, collaborative, and transformative work has made a significant impact on the development of their community.
Launched in 2023, AgriSaveur provides essential infrastructure within the municipality for local producers and processors with the goal of strengthening the region’s agri-food sector and food autonomy within the region.
“This recognition is a tremendous source of pride for our region. AgriSaveur demonstrates what can be achieved when municipalities, producers, businesses, and partners work together toward a common goal,” said Warden Jane Toller. “Not only does this project strengthen our local economy, but it also helps build a more self-sufficient and sustainable future for Pontiac.”
Toller accepted the award at the FQM’s recent annual convention in Québec City.
