The Arnprior Rotary Club in collaboration with the Arnprior and District Food Bank is looking to make sure every kid has a birthday.
The Birthday in a Box initiative is something that’s been in the works since last spring. The program supplies a family with a birthday kit, including cake mix, balloons, a game and more; and a unique way to make said cake without eggs or oil.
Linda Roberts, Manager of the Arnprior and District Food Bank says it’s something the both of them have been working on for a while.
Families looking to participate must be clients of the food bank. If a family does have a child celebrating a birthday within the month, they need to let the food bank know so they can supply them with a kit.
Gerhard Peters, President of the Arnprior Rotary Club says the idea came from one of their US based clubs that had rolled out a similar initiative.
Peters wanted it to be a unique approach to celebrate the 30 years of Arnprior Rotary.
The program is expected to run for a year until September 2027. Roberts is extremely appreciative of the efforts made by the Rotarians in Arnprior.
