Fair season in the Ottawa Valley will wrap up with a big bash under the bright lights of the Renfrew Fairgrounds starting this Thursday, September 10.
The Renfrew Fair returns for its 171st year this weekend with four days packed with adventure and excitement for the whole family, including the famous truck and tractor pulls and demolition derby, a thriving midway with vendors, games, and rides, and a deep connection to our local famers and creators that Judy Dobec, the fair’s administrative coordinator, says make the event worth it every year.
Along with a marvellous show of strength that will be on display during Sunday’s horse pulls, which will see dozens of teams hitching and hauling across the fairgrounds, Dobec adds that Renfrew is a crucial stop for the region’s young producers because the event acts as the Renfrew County 4-H Club’s championship show for beef, dairy, and sheep.
That means fairgoers will have the privilege of seeing some of the best livestock the Valley has to offer.
Attendees will also have plenty of reasons to stick around for the full day thanks to a stacked line-up of live entertainment taking the stage in the Armouries building and throughout the venue, including their headline acts: Tragically Hip tribute Little Bones on Friday, Snowbird featuring Marleen Fawcett on Sunday, and one big Saturday addition that Dobec says will be too good for her to pass up.
