Pikwàkanagàn Fire Chief Chris Sarazin has been recognized with an Anishinabek Lifetime Achievement Award for more than three decades of service to his community.
Sarazin received the award at the Anishinabek Evening of Excellence in Rama last week. The award recognizes individuals for leadership and longstanding contributions to their communities and the Anishinabek Nation.
Sarazin has spent more than 30 years working to protect the health, safety and well-being of the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation.
Through his leadership with the Pikwàkanagàn Fire Department, Sarazin has worked to strengthen emergency response services, promote fire prevention and public education, mentor firefighters and improve emergency preparedness.
Pikwàkanagàn Chief Greg Sarazin nominated the fire chief for the award. He addressed more than 100 people at the ceremony, highlighting Chris Sarazin’s decades of public service.
The First Nation says the award recognizes Sarazin’s contributions to community safety and his ongoing commitment to protecting residents.
Chief and Council congratulated Sarazin and thanked him for his more than 30 years of service to Pikwàkanagàn.
