Mississippi Mills Mayor Christa Lowry will serve at least another four years at the head of the council table.
Lowry has been acclaimed to the top job after no one chose to run against her as the nomination deadline closed last Friday.
Lowry says she actually would have preferred an election, as it encourages debate and public input on the issues.
The former professional musician and holistic nutritionist won a council seat 12 years ago, and became mayor in 2018. She has seen a lot change in that time.
Lowry says the cost of infrastructure for municipalities remains a major concern. She says a recent study puts it into perspective.
Lowry says housing will remain a major focus for council in the upcoming term.
Among the highlights of the last term, Lowry says they had a couple big wins, including securing 10 million dollars in funding for childcare and housing.
Looking foward to the next term, she says she’s excited to get to work on the Community Services Master Plan and the 87 recommendations within it.
