School is fast approaching, are your child’s vaccines up-to-date?
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is reminding parents to reach out to public health to update their children’s vaccination status or to book an appointment with either their primary care provider or public health to receive a vaccine.
France Boucher, Manager of Immunization Services with the health unit says booking an appointment is easy.
Boucher goes on to say that keeping vaccinations up-to-date is one of the best ways to protect your child, to keep a healthy learning environment and to help prevent outbreaks in our community.
Parents of children who’s records are not up-to-date will receive a letter, notifying them to update said records with the health unit. The health unit is legislated by the province to retrieve and review all student records, says Boucher.
Most of the time, children are up-to-date on their vaccinations and that information just needs to be updated with public health. Parents can do so by visiting rcdhu.com or by calling the health unit at 1-833-773-0004.
