Gardeners in Arnprior now have more freedom when it comes to watering.
The water use by-law says households with an even-numbered address can only water outdoors on even-numbered days, and as such for odd-numbered homes. For example, if your home’s address is 123, you can only water outdoors on odd-numbered days like August 1st, 3rd, 5th, etcetera.
The town has added an amendment to it’s existing by-law to allow vegetable and fruit gardens, plots and trees to be watered on any calendar day. The suggestion was brought to council by a resident and council agreed in support of local food production.
This amendment does not change the already existing exemption allowing anyone installing a significant amount of new grass, sod or landscaping to water each day for one week after installation.
