Military families from across the Ottawa Valley will flock to Garrison Petawawa for a special celebration later this week.
Members of the Royal Canadian Regiment are expected to host a family day at Black Bear Beach this Thursday, August 6, including parachutists, helocasting, and public displays, as well as a battalion soccer game, barbeque, and fun along the beach.
The day will also commemorate Pachino Day, marking the anniversary of Canadian forces landing in Sicily during the Second World War.
Garrison officials say the event is free and open to the public. They also ask boaters to respect all posted signage and navigational aids along their waterway near the beach to ensure the safety of personnel jumping into the water as part of the day’s festivities.
