There is just a little time left to have your say on how the County of Renfrew cares for its forests.
County officials are welcoming comments on their forest management plan, which will outline the objective and strategies for the sustainable management of the 6,540-hectare Renfrew County Forest landbase from 2027 to 2036, until this Friday, July 31.
The plan lays out how county staff will manage and protect the forest and its wildlife, provide recreational opportunities within the forested area, and promote sustainable forest management locally, among other key objectives.
Local municipalities, the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan, Algonquins of Ontario, interested stakeholders, and the public are invited to review the draft plan and provide comments for consideration ahead of the final plan being presented to Council for approval in September.
