The Ottawa Valley may soon find people canvassing their neighbourhoods on behalf of the Special Olympics.
Special Olympics Renfrew has let their supporters know that fundraisers representing the Special Olympics Canada Foundation will be seen in communities across Ontario in the coming weeks to raise funds in support of strengthening and sustaining Special Olympics programming and initiatives that empower athletes with intellectual disabilities to train, compete, and thrive.
That includes funding the national and provincial games and year-round community sports programs, as well as coach and volunteer development.
Fundraisers with the third-party agency Giveroo will be used as part of the campaign.
While they are not guaranteed to come to the area, local branch chairperson Kyle Duperon-Haynes says the foundation has noted that it is a possibility.
