Police in the Whitewater Region area are asking for the public’s help after a theft left a busy intersection unsafe.
The Renfrew OPP say a stop sign was recently stolen from the intersection of Queens Line and Foresters Falls Road.
Stealing road signs creates an extremely dangerous situation for everyone on the road, especially for those who are unfamiliar with the area. Motorists may proceed without stopping, increasing the risk of a serious or even fatal collision.
The OPP also points out that a stolen or damaged traffic sign has to be replaced using taxpayer dollars, taking resources away from important community services.
Anyone with information about the theft or other suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact the Renfrew OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122 or report anonymously to Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online.
