Friday night’s wind storm left behind a messy cleanup across Renfrew County and MRC Pontaic, including the Pembroke, Renfrew, Arnprior, Shawville, and Sheenboro areas.
OPP reported trees down on roads, while Hydro One and Hydro Quebec crews continue dealing with damaged lines and scattered outages.
As of Sunday afternoon, Renfrew County still had more than 1,200 customers without power, along with hundreds more in the Pontiac and Outaouis area.
In an update to residents within MRC Pontiac, Warden Jane Toller expressed gratitude to everyone for their efforts during the challenging weekend, particularly for those without generators.
She is also hopeful that $150 million in investments into new distribution lines, a new substation in Mansfield, and a rebuild of the existing Cadieux substation over the next few years will lessen the severity of outages in the future.
Residents are reminded to stay at least 10 meters back from any downed line and call it in.
