Arnprior:
Today: Toddler Tales is an event for Children aged 12 months to 2.5 years taking place from 10-1030AM in the Library’s sunny Scharf Hall. To join in on themed stories, songs, rhymes and a fun craft all you need is your library card to get a name tag and participate.
English Lessons for beginners In-Person happens from 10AM-Noon in the Gaumand Room of the Arnprior Public Library. Newcomers are welcome to attend this free drop-in ESL program led by qualified volunteer tutors. The Friday meet-ups are geared toward beginner learners. Meet new people, enjoy a coffee and improve your English skills.
A Drop-in Preschool Story Time takes place from 11-1130AM for children ages 2.5 to school age are invited to our beautiful sunny Scharf Hall for themed stories, songs, rhymes and a fun craft for this half hour of library fun. All you need is your library card to get a name tag and enjoy the fun every Friday.
A Bridge Club drop in welcomes players from beginners to experienced Fridays from 1230-330PM in the Main Community Hall of the Arnprior Public Library. There is no fee or registration to attend, however donations will be accepted in support of the High School’s Guidance Office and their Teens in Need program.
Take Note: Vice Regal Consort of Canada Whit Fraser brings his gift of story telling to the Arnprior Library in celebration of the release of his memoir “From Ragged Ass Road to Rideau Hall” on Sunday, May 3rd from 230-4PM. Whit Fraser is a journalist, broadcaster, author and spouse of Canada’s Governor General Mary Simon. This is a timely and topical memoir offering essential context from someone who witnessed first-hand the shifts of Arctic sovereignty, climate change and Indigenous rights. Join the conversation and have the chance to ask your own question. White Pine Books will be on hand with books to purchase and you’ll have the opportunity to meet with the author and get your copy signed. Mississippi Mills:
Today: The Municipality of Mississippi Mills holds its annual Exchange Weekend during the first weekend of May each year. Residents of Mississippi Mills can put items out at the curb they no longer want, and others can take the “treasures.” Items can be placed on the curb on the Friday and must be brought back in (if not taken) on the Sunday.
The Mississippi Mills Youth Centre Gym Night happens at 126 Martin Street North from 5-730PM. Indoor running shoes required. Get ready to move, play, and have fun! Email programcoordinator@mmyc.ca

Tickets remain on sale for Almonte District High School’s student created show, Shattered: Time in Pieces! We have eight show dates this year, spanning two weekends in April, and concluding Sunday May 3rd at 2PM at Almonte Old Town Hall.

The Tree Seedling Giveaway is back! Mississippi Mills is offering free bare-root seedlings to residents in celebration of Arbour Week. Attend Saturday, May 2nd from 9-11 am at the Mississippi Mills Roads and Public Works Garage (3131 Old Perth Road). Available species may include red oak, silver maple, white pine, tamarack and red pine (while supplies last). Limit of 10 seedlings per household. Don’t forget to bring a bag or box for transport! Carleton Place:

The Play That Goes Wrong is a fast-paced farce about an amateur theatre troupe attempting to stage a 1920s murder mystery-with disastrously hilarious results. It takes place in the Town Hall Auditorium April 30th though May 3rd, and May 7th-9th from 730-930PM. From collapsing sets and missing props to forgotten lines and mistimed sound effects, everything that can go wrong does. Tickets are $25 per person, with no refunds or exchanges after May 2nd.
Tomorrow: A Soap Making Workshop is being held from 930AM to Noon at Carleton Place Collective, 155 Industrial Avenue. Fees for available workshop spaces are now $125 per session. There are no refunds for workshops unless they are cancelled or rescheduled on the part of the organizer. If you cannot attend your workshop, please provide at least 24hrs notice and your purchase will be deferred to another date.
Free Comic Book Day occurs from 10AM to 2PM at Murray’s Flea Market 525 High Street. The event is brought to you by D’Best Collectables, Big Belly Comics and Jee Riz Comics! Score some Free Comic Book Day comics while they last and then dive into rows of long boxes packed with back issues, hidden gems and must-have reads. A Stay Safe Course happens from 10AM to 4PM at the Carleton Place Public Library 101 Beckwith Street. Offered by 13 First Aid & Training. The Arts Carleton Place 2026 Fine Art Exhibition takes place from 10AM-430PM at the Carleton Place Arena, Upper Hall 75 Neelin Street, Carleton Place. This annual juried exhibition celebrates regional artistic excellence and provides the public with an engaging opportunity to experience high-quality fine art in a welcoming and accessible setting. Admission and parking are free, and visitors will enjoy door prizes throughout the event.
High Tea High Tea will be served from 1-5PM at the Carleton Place Legion. Traditional high tea repast with an assortment of savory, delicious sandwiches, scones and tasty dainties. Admission is $40/Ticket – Advanced tickets at the bar. Limit of 80 tickets available.

Local Sports:
Renfrew Minor Baseball (serving families from Renfrew, Arnprior, Douglas, etc.) is gearing up for its 2026 season, with practices and opening games typically starting late April / early May.
Divisions run from T-Ball through Senior, meaning diamonds will be busy most evenings. Arnprior-area minor softball also shifts into spring/summer play through municipal and association programs.
