Arnprior Official Plan amendments for 400 Division Street sailed through Town Council with a little drama, but no glitches- as elected representative were unanimous in their approval Monday night (March 23rd).
At the previous municipal meeting, the Drainage Superintendent for McNab-Braeside had attended to raise his concerns that the Scheel Award Drain flowing into Jedd Creek could create backup in the future Arnprior subdivision- and flood neighbouring properties in his adjacent Township.
Arnprior Manager of Community Services and Planner Alix Jolicoeur began her presentation by indicating there had been dialogue with the civic official to address concerns that were relevant to this stage of the application process, and that his presentation would inform future development stages going forward.
County Councillor Dan Lynch introduced another variable.
Councillor Chris Toner worries that residents dumping debris could potentially backup the award drain.
Planner Alix Jolicoeur says the current size of culvert pipe diametre of 75 inches is presently deemed sufficient for outflow, but if in future it is found to fall short, upsizing it would be either the County of Renfrew’s responsibility, or fall on the developer’s shoulders.
Mayor Lisa McGee cited a situation with a subdivision in Carp where the storm water management ponds designed for a subdivision there proved insufficient, prompting Operations Manager John Steckley to intervene.
Steckley indicated the expressed concern is only relevant to future stages of the Division Street subdivision application.
That assurance given, Councillors were unanimous in their approval.
