Here’s what’s going on in Arnprior and area over the next 48 hours.
Arnprior:
Today: Toddler Tales runs from 10-1030AM at the Arnprior Public Library. Children aged 12 months to 2.5 years are invited to sunny Scharf Hall for themed stories, songs, rhymes and of course a fun craft for this half hour of library fun. All you need is your library card to get a name tag and enjoy the fun every Friday.
English Lessons- beginners In-Person occur in the Arnprior Library’s Gaumond Room from 10AM to Noon. Newcomers are welcome to attend this free drop-in ESL program led by qualified volunteer tutors.
Drop-in Preschool Story Time takes place from 11-1130AM in the Library’s Scharf Hall. Children aged 2.5 to school age are invited to our Scharf Hall for themed stories, songs, rhymes and of course a fun craft for this half hour of library fun.
The Bridge Club meet-up happens from 1230-330PM in the Arnprior Library’s Main Community Hall. There is no fee or registration to attend. Donations will be accepted in support of the High School’s Guidance Office and their Teens in Need program.
Take Note: The Arnprior and District Museum Summer Experimentation Station registration is OPEN! The initiative make films, build planets, measures slime, jousts in giant cardboard castles, and breaks pirate codes! The summer camp fosters cooperation and creative problem-solving across History, Art, and Science indoors and outdoors all summer long. Full weekly theme descriptions will be available in May but note that every day runs from 8:30AM-3:30PM June 29th to August 28th (Extended hours 7:45-4:30 available for an additional fee). Mississippi Mills:
Today: Mr. Smith’s Family Magic Show offers performances at 10Am and 130Pm in the Almonte Old Town Hall. Tickets are $5 each, and available at www.ticketsplease.ca
There’s a March Break Skate in Almonte from Noon-2PM at the John Levy Community Centre, sponsored by the Almonte Fair.
A March Break Skate takes place from 1-3PM at the Stewart Community Centre in Pakenham, sponsored by Shalynn Marsh, Royal LePage Realty.
The Mississippi Mills Youth Centre features Gym Night at Almonte and District High from 6-730PM. It’s a free program for ages 10-18. To register, email programcoordinator@mmyc.ca
Public Skating takes place from 730-9PM at the Stewart Community Centre in Pakenham
Tomorrow: Sound Healing and Cacao Ceremony takes place from 130-3PM at the Almonte Old Town Hall. The event honours the Spring Equinox with a heart-opening cacao ceremony and a deeply grounding sound healing meditation. Enjoy tea and cookies afterwards.
Public Skating in Pakenham occurs from 6-8PM at the Stewart Community Centre, 112 MacFarlane Street.
Carleton Place:
Today: A Family Glow Dance Party happens from 1030AM to Noon at the Carleton Place Arena. It’s a free event. Adult Supervision is required.
Live Music at St. James Gate, 111 Bridge Street occurs from 7-10PM as Wade Barras performs.
Tomorrow: The Curling Club Community Bonspiel happens from 8AM-6PM at the Curling Club, 120 Patterson Crescent. Participants on 16 teams will play Four 4 End Games. Cost is $240/team, which includes lunch. Snacks are available between games and there will be prizes for the Top 3 teams.
A Spring Fling Fundraiser begins at 6PM at the Legion, 177 George Street, presented by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion. Cocktails at 6pm, Dinner at 7pm and dancing to follow with music by M&M. Cost is $100 ticket. All funds raised remain in the community, providing direct support to those affected by cancer. Seats are limited, For information contact laevents192@gmail.com.
Local Sports:
EOJHL playoffs see back-to-back Games Two and Three of the Richardson Division Final between the Renfrew Junior Timberwolves at the Smiths Falls Junior Bears. Saturday’s game is in Renfrew at 730PM at the myFM Centre. Sunday’s clash is in Smith’s Falls beginning at 330PM.
