In addition to offering the possibility of high-speed rail transit between Quebec City and Toronto, there are a few other things the ALTO proposal might entail.
One of the two routes under consideration would possibly pass through Mississippi Mills.
Aamong the areas of life that could be affected by ALTO are: roads, emergency response, municipal services; impacts to recreational trail systems, watershed systems and drainage and water management systems.
A new rail line would risk orphaning parts of the municipality and isolating farm parcels, as well as affect property values.
ALTO has extended its public consultation window until April 24th.
