Yesterday (Feb. 24) at approximately 10:25 a.m., Bonnechere Valley Fire Department (BVFD) crews were called to the scene of a blaze located not far from the Foodland on Hwy. 60/41 and Snodrifters Rd.
Once crews arrived on the scene, a freestanding house was fully engulfed in flames.
BVFD chief, Darryl Wagner, said it was much too dangerous for the crews to fight the fire from inside the structure.
Media reports confirm three dogs died in the fire, however no human injuries were reported.
Despite the efforts from BVFD crews and North Algona Wilberforce Fire Department crews, the fire was just too much by the time anyone arrived on-scene.
A live wire on the loose could have made the situation much worse than it already was, but mother nature provided a helping hand.
In response to the fire, an online fundraiser on the family’s behalf has been posted online.
Wagner said one of the family members is also a member of the BVFD.
He said the family recently welcomed a newborn baby.
Unfortunately due to the extent of the damage a cause of the fire could not be determined and Wagner said a room of origin could not be located.
