A musician born and raised in Pembroke is celebrating the release of her latest single, which she says is the start of a new phase in her music.
Sierra Levesque, who released her debut album New Generation late last year, has released her first single of 2026, titled “Don’t Go.”
According to Levesque, this is the start of a new album cycle.
The timeline isn’t set in stone, but Levesque is hoping to release some more songs throughout the year in the leadup to her sophomore effort’s release.
She says the reception for Don’t Go has been positive so far, which is always a pleasant surprise for her, as she’s often unsure how people will react to her music.
The song even ended up on one of Spotify’s playlists, which Levesque says is rare for independent artists like her.
Levesque says the song is about the feeling of desperation that comes from losing a loved one, either to them passing away or simply drifting apart.
In the meantime, as she works on her next album, Levesque says she’s been pleased with the sales and reception for New Generation.
Levesque is currently in the United States performing a series of shows, but says she plans to return to the Ottawa Valley soon.
