Local heroes Bubba and Dwight are only early into their second season on YouTube and Facebook, but the pair are breaking new ground by being up front with an extremely important topic.
Arnprior has never had an “Out of the Darkness Walk”- but that will change October 5th, due to the courage and determination of resident Chantale Brown, who lost her son Eric to suicide in 2021.
Chantale recently queried the audience of What’s Up Arnprior as to potential interest, and was overwhelmed with the response.
The response gave Chantale resolve.
Since making the decision to host a Suicide Awareness and prevention event, Chantale says so many have come aboard.
The Out of the Darkness Walk isn’t too far off.
Chantale has had a banner made profiling those whom the community has lost.
She says those with a loved one at risk shouldn’t put off seeking help.
Chantale Brown says preregistration would be appreciated.
On October 5th, the 3 kilometre walk will take participants through the downtown core- with a stop planned at the Renfrew County Paramedic base.
Chantale says a companion resource table will have some great take-aways.
The Arnprior mother says, while the Walk is not a fundraiser, there will be a couple of donation boxes for those who wish to contribute to the 9-8-8 Suicide Line.
