Well in advance of it becoming a worry this year, Arnprior Town Staff updated Council on new Winter Parking policies at the August 25th Municipal meeting.
Clerk Kaila Zamojski’s report was prepared in response to Councillor Chris Couper’s efforts of last season to simplify the Town’s Winter Parking procedures.
Bylaw became bogeymen when “warning” tickets were taken to be the real thing, with some residents even striving to pay them.
The Town Clerk maintains that Winter Parking regulation information was widely disseminated.
Further, residents themselves can easily access details on their own.
Zamojski believes Councillor Couper’s suggestion of warning alerts for residents could be both costly and time-consuming.
An idea copied from Carleton Place to provide designated overnight parking in various locations around the community was well utilized.
Zamojski says Town staff were pleased with the number of calls received in connection with the overnight parking spaces.
The Town Clerk says the big plusses from last year are being incorporated into an information pamphlet, rather than a scary-looking ticket.
For the fiscally-minded, the Winter Parking Regulation changes come at very little cost.
Councillor Couper was pleased with what he heard; especially with the end of the “warning ticket” practice.
He believes Staff have left no stone unturned in efforts to keep the Winter Parking Peace.
