The Ministry of Natural Resources, Pembroke District is advising residents that a Flood Watch is in effect for areas along the Ottawa River between Pembroke and Britannia until Tuesday, April 29th.
MNR advises this is a normal precautionary measure.
Residents that have been affected by high water and flow conditions in the past, should take necessary action to protect and/or secure any vulnerable property near to rivers and lakes and encourage you to closely monitor developing conditions and regularly check for updated messages.

As the annual spring freshet increases levels along the watercourse, residents are urged to exercise caution. Swift currents, rising water, and unstable banks pose significant safety risks.
Following these guidelines is recommended: Avoid Fast-Moving Water; Keep Children and Pets Away from Waterways; Obey All Warning Signs and Barriers; Do Not Attempt to Cross Flooded Areas; Stay Informed of Weather and Water Conditions; Secure Loose Belongings Near Water; Avoid Recreational Water Activities; Report Hazards; Have an Emergency Plan and Respect the Power of Water.
