
Here’s what’s going on in Arnprior and area over the next 48 hours.
Arnprior:
Today: Junior Youth Night and Youth Night happen at 5PM and 6PM at the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall.
Tomorrow: The Snovap “Little Explorers” Kids Hike takes place Saturday from 10-11AM along the Macnamara Trail, 284 McNab Street. The hike is for ages 3+ Every parent and child needs a $10 admission ticket. Contact: Sandy at 613-900-4311
Take Note: Tuesday February 18th marked the first day of construction for renovations at Arnprior’s Nick Smith Centre, and the Glenn Arthur Arena is now closed- with the Bert Hall Arena to join it March 16th. Other aspects of the Recreation facility and Community Hall will continue uninterrupted.
Mississippi Mills:
Today: The Coffee Time Drop-In happens from 10AM to 1130AM at the Pakenham Branch of the Mississippi Mills Public Library.
The Conversational French Club meets from 1030AM-1130AM at the Almonte Branch of the Mississippi Mills Public Library
Tomorrow: The 35th Lanark and District Maple Syrup Producers First Tapping Ceremony takes place from 11AM-2PM at Thompson’s Sweet Retreat (1922 Clayton Road). The ceremonial first tapping of the season will take place at 11:30 a.m. Live entertainment will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with Vicki Brittle, followed by Jim & Jr. from 12:15 to 2 p.m. Lunch, coffee, and drinks will available to purchase, along with maple syrup, butter, sugar and – of course, taffy! Bring your winter gear for a winter hike on the walking trail, then warm up by the campfire. Sugarbush tours will also be available.
Death and The Maiden, a performance of the New Orford String Quartet begins at 730PM. Single Tickets are $44 per person and must be purchased online at ticketsplease.com or through almonteinconcert.com
The performance is at the Almonte Old Town Hall.
Carleton Place:
Today: The Youth Centre St. Patrick’s Day Dance happens tonight from 5-8PM. It’s for ages 13-18. Refreshments & Snacks before the dance provided by the Youth Centre. Canteen with popcorn and pop for $1 each starting at 6pm. Sign-up using the link to reserve your spot https://signup.com/go/sjnHQZU
Tomorrow: The Legion Community Breakfast happens from 8:00 am – 10:30 am. Cost is $13 Adults or two for $25, $6.50 for Kids under 12, Kids under 6 eat free. Breakfast options include: eggs to order, bacon, sausage, pancakes, home fries, homemade beans, and a variety of toast, along with juice, coffee or tea.
12th Annual Spring Mom2Mom Sale is on from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Buy gently used and new children’s clothing, shoes and toys. Donations to the Lanark County Food Bank are encouraged and appreciated. This event is put on by members of the North Lanark Highland Games and the North Lanark Agricultural Society and all proceeds are split between them.

EOJHL: Friday March 7th the Carleton Place Junior Canadians go against the Junior Timberwolves in Renfrew. Saturday March 8th the Ottawa West Golden Knights visit the Ottawa Junior Canadians at 720PM. The Richmond Royals are in Athens versus the Aeros at 730PM. The Renfrew Junior Timberwolves are on the road against the Carleton Place Junior Canadians at 730PM. The Casselman Vikings take on the Brigade in Glengarry at 730PM. Sunday March 9th the Glengarry Brigade visit the Casselman Vikings at 130PM. The Athens Aeros play the Royals in Richmond at 720PM. Monday March 10th the Ottawa Junior Canadians visit the Ottawa West Golden Knights at 720PM.
