The death has been announced of long-time Pakenham civic leader Ian Paige.
Paige was Reeve of the former Pakenham Township from 1985 to 1988, and served as a Councillor on Lanark County Council.
Prior to becoming Township Reeve, he served as a Pakenham Township Councillor from 1977 to 1980.
Paige was instrumental in establishing the Pakenham Township office, which continues in operation as the Pakenham Branch of the Mississippi Mills Public Library.
He also contributed to the success of the Pakenham Golf Course subdivision.
Paige expired on December 24th, 2024 and flags on municipal properties in Mississippi Mills have been lowered to half-staff in his honour.
