An individual is facing numerous charges and a stolen vehicle has been recovered after an early morning traffic stop on Highway 17.
A press release from the Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reports that, on Nov. 14, around 4:30 a.m., Renfrew OPP stopped a vehicle for stunt driving in McNab-Braeside.
The investigation revealed the vehicle to be stolen, and the driver was taken into custody. During that time, the driver produced multiple false identifications to police and was charged accordingly.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old resident of Orillia, ON, was charged with:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000- in Canada
- Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (identity fraud)
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Speeding 50+ km/h over posted limit
- Drive motor vehicle- perform stunt- excessive speed
- Driving while under suspension
The accused was held in custody.
