A 25-year-old woman is facing a charge of careless driving causing death and two counts of careless driving causing bodily harm following an investigation into a May crash on Highway 417 west, near Carp Road.
The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) announced the charges in a press release today (Oct. 16)
“Shortly before 4 p.m. on May 31, Ottawa OPP responded to reports of a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 417 west, near Carp Road,” reads the release. “A vehicle travelling eastbound had crossed the center median and went into oncoming traffic, which caused a serious, multi-vehicle collision. As a result of the collision, a young child later died from their injuries and two individuals suffered life-altering injuries.”
The driver is set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in November.
