The Emergency Department (ED) at Almonte General Hospital (AGH) will be temporarily closed on Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. until Monday, September 16, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. The closure is due to a staffing shortage. All other hospital services, including obstetrics, remain unaffected.
AGH President and CEO, Brad Harrington, emphasized the priority of patient and staff safety during the closure. He also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of teams at both AGH and Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital to maintain proper staffing levels, with support from Lanark County Paramedic Service.
During the closure, individuals needing urgent medical care are advised to call 9-1-1, and paramedics will transport patients to the nearest available emergency department. The public is reminded not to visit AGH’s ED during the closure. For non-emergency health advice, Telehealth Ontario provides 24/7 support at 1-866-797-0000.
