Did you know that the catchment area for membership in the Carleton Place and District Community Band (CPDCB) also includes Arnprior?
There are also members from Mississippi Mills and Ottawa, as the ensemble has grown from 18 to 48 members under the nine-year tenure of Conductor Gary Payne.
The band kicked off its 2024 Concert Season with the Spring Concert entitled “Swingin’ Into Spring”at the Carambeck Community Centre, on Sunday, June 2nd to a sold-out house.
The performance brought back memories of the Big Band Era, the ilk of Benny Goodman and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, while the Ottawa Vintage Swing Dancers swayed along.
This summer the band will be presenting a series of free outdoor concerts on Monday evenings, including one in Almonte. The band is excited to be performing our first outdoor concert in Almonte on Monday, July 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Gemmill Park.
