“Seedy Saturday” isn’t trade-marked by anyone in Almonte, but the signature event is back this Saturday at the Almonte Civitan Club.
The event will be a fundraiser for Lanark County Interval House to support their Perseverance Pantry Outreach Program for women in challenging circumstances.
There will be seed exchanges, seed banks, seed vendors, and free advice at the Master Gardeners table.
A robust lecture series involves locally renowned authors, gardeners and activists as presenters.
The lecture program begins at 1030AM in the Main Speaker Hall with a talk by Steven Martyn on co-creating abundance with the land. At Noon, Mélanie Ouellette, Chair and Founder of the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library presents, and at 130PM Telsing Andrews of the Edible Ottawa Gardening Group demonstrates how to save common garden vegetable variety seeds through both wet and dry threshing methods.
A practical workshop program from local experts deals with seed starting, composting and growing your mushrooms.
The cafeteria will be open all day.
Admission is $3 all inclusive, with 100% of the proceeds going to Lanark County Interval House.
