Venturing off on one’s own after being under the local Health umbrella isn’t the easiest of tasks for the Arnprior McNab-Braeside Men’s Shed as far as governance, but it will allow the shed to develop and grow.
Last year the Men’s Shed and Arnprior Regional Health parted ways, in part because Health Care facilities were being encouraged by the Ford Government to return to their core mandates.
The Men’s Shed, for its part, saw new growth opportunities it is bringing to life, in part by finding a new home in the former Braeside Public School- but with autonomy comes the responsibility of becoming financially self-sustaining.
A strong Men’s Shed Fundraising Committee has been formed, and the local appeal is bearing fruit.
Last Thursday (January 11th) a gathering at Branch 174 in Arnprior saw Men’s Shed representatives presented with a cheque for 7500 dollars from the local Legion to put toward its activities.
Among the community-based initiatives the Arnprior McNab-Braeside Men’s Shed plans to develop and deliver is one specifically geared to veterans.
