In response to the current FAQ in Arnprior, yes, The Town’s Canada Day fireworks display will proceed as planned.
The centerpiece of Arnprior’s Canada Day festivities is the fireworks display at dusk that can be enjoyed along the banks of the Madawaska River, among other favourite locations.
Recreation Director Graeme Ivory says all precautions will be taken, and the display is operated by trained professionals.
The launch site of the fireworks display is the island at the base of the OPG weir. The fireworks are launched over water and the fallout zone is captured within the footprint of the Madawaska.
No members of the public are allowed therein, and residents are strongly dissauded from using their own private fireworks, even if they can assume financial responsibility should anything go awry.
Note that Arnprior remains within the Restricted Fire Zone and all issued Burn Permits are suspended.
