The Nature Conservancy of Canada hopes to be a good neighbour to the occupants of 55 residential dwellings in a proposed subdivision adjacent to its Gillies Grove Nature Reserve, and it expects the same thing in return.

Although the Nature Conservancy of Canada awarded a plaque to the Town and its citizens for earlier efforts at defending Gillies Grove, spokesperson Rob McRae says for a long time Arnprior’s regulations have been development-friendly toward the property next door.
There’s no veto that accompanies the NCC’s mandate to protect the Nature Reserve.
McRae says there are protections governing how the subdivision property will be built.
