The countdown is on for the Ontario Winter Games with opening ceremonies this week.
Warden Peter Emon says there will be eight competitions during the first week of events, from February 2nd to 5th, with approximately 1,100 participants.
The second week of events, from February 9th to 12th, will feature the remaining sporting competitions with approximately 1,400 participants expected.
The County of Renfrew recently held two training nights for volunteers and saw 300 people show up in Renfrew and another 400 in Petawawa.
Emon says they are still looking for more volunteers and you can sign up online.
The Warden for the County of Renfrew provided an update to elected officials at the most recent meeting of County Council.
Merchandise for the Ontario Winter Games is available online and the event organizers hope to see you attend.
A local business has also created Ontario Winter Games themed candles.
Opening ceremonies for the first week of the Ontario Winter Games will be held at Ma-te-Way in Renfrew on Thursday, February 2nd from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
