This morning on Loggers Way off of Morris Island Drive in West Carleton Ward, a shed, chock-full of winter wood risk destroying the dwelling it was intended to heat.
Ottawa Fire Services prudently took care of the danger.
At 10:15AM Friday, a sole 911 caller reported the 10×10 foot shed, situated just 3 feet from the house, was burning and in danger of spreading to the home.
Upon arrival, Firefighters confirmed the shed was fully engulfed in smoke and flames with a high risk of it spreading to the dwelling via a nearby balcony.
At 10:36, a “working fire” was declared and additional apparatus was sent to to the scene to help fight the fire.
Crews began a fast attack to extinguish the flames and at 10:40AM, the fire was declared under control.
Firefighters pulled out multiple piles of wood from the shed to extinguish any hot spots, then used a thermal imaging camera to determine there were no remaining hot spots.
There was no damage to the owner’s house and no reported injuries.
