The Town of Arnprior is using Veteran’s Week to promote some of the community’s war heroes who have had street names designated in their honour by sharing the service profiles and life stories of these distinguished individuals on its Facebook Page, Arnprior Life.
You can also visit the municipal website, arnprior.ca/veterans to find the story of streets like Ernie Godin Way, located in the Fairgrounds Subdivision; Ernie was a member of the Governor-General’s Footguard and later the Brewers’ Retail Manager.
Sergeant Howard Slater Park, off Desmond Trudeau Drive, celebrates the lone survivor of a five member crew during a Netherlands offensive in 1944.
Morgan Cloutier Way commemorates a war hero who returned to plow Town Streets and manage the Elgin Street ice rink.
Mac Beatty Drive honours the Arnprior Greenshirt goaltender and music professional with the Ottawa Valley Melodiers- with more features to follow until Friday.
