The Angel Tree Program in Lanark County has a storied history dating back nearly four decades, according to Acting Sergeant Joe Tereschuk with the OPP.
Tereschuk says you’ll find Angel Trees at all of the nine municipal offices in Lanark County, the County Office, the Pakenham Library, your local OPP detachment, as well as caring businesses that serve as community partners: Walmart in Carleton Place, the Albany Eaton Factories in Perth, the Perth Athletic Centre, Spring Children and Uni-Glas Plus- also in Perth; as well as Rick’s Glass Medic and Tinting, Heritage Dental and the Almonte Chiropractic Office in Almonte.
Visit a location, pick a tag, purchase a suitable gift, and return the gift, with tag, to the Angel Tree location you got it at by the due date of Friday December 2nd.
The tag you chose will be registered to your name, and will include the child’s age and gender, and the item they are requesting.
The gift, and tag, should be returned in a gift bag- but don’t wrap it.
Police will pick up all of the gifts December 2nd- and Tereschuk says it’s quite the haul.
The Acting Sergeant says once police transfer everything to the Lanark Leeds and Grenville Child and Family Services, who handle distribution.
He says if you miss the December 2nd deadline to return your gift and tag to where you got it- just bring it to either Lanark OPP Detachment- in Carleton Place, or Perth.
