Because of the number of persons seeking promotions in Carleton Place in the current Municipal Election, we are in what’s called a “lame duck” situation, as the numbers show not enough people can return in the current roles to approve any significant financial decisions.
Councillor Toby Randell is running for Mayor, versus incumbent Doug Black- meaning at least one of the two won’t be back. Andreas Foustanellas is also seeking the Mayor’s job.
Councillor Andrew Tennant is challenging Deputy Mayor Sean Redmond, forcing a choice between the two.
There are thirteen nominees to fill the remaining five Council positions.
Linda Seccaspina, Jeff Atkinson and Wes Parsons are all incumbents seeking re-election.
Newcomers Kory Earle, Aaron Niedbala, Todd Boyce, Paolo Villa, Francois Maltais, Sarah Cavanagh, Mark Hinton, Tracy Kwissa, John R. Edwards and Dena Comley seek to join them.
Two nominees are each vying for the English Public and Separate School single seats available.
Voting is by electronic ballot from October 14th-24th.
