Tallest white pine at Gillies Grove
The Gillies Grove NCC property in Arnprior has undergone a facelift, and the Nature Conservancy of Canada has an event planned for today (Wednesday) to show it off.
Megan Quinn of the NCC says the Conservancy has consolidated the number of trails at four, and erected wayfaring signage for better self-guidance through the attraction.
Quinn says at the Ottawa Street entrance to the Grove you will find a boot scrubber to protect the property from any untoward microscopic pests that could cause potential damage to the flora and fauna found therein.
The boot scrubber is courtesy of the Invasive Species Centre.
The NCC spokesperson says many residents may miss today’s 11AM tour and presentation because of its three-hour duration, but the great thing about Gillies Grove is you can spend as much or as little time within its welcoming confines as you wish, and come back again and again and again.
