It was a record turn out for the open house at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) in Chalk River.
The event saw over 3,000 people attend on Saturday (August 6th, 2022) as temperatures soared above 40 degrees with the humidex.
The open house included family friendly entertainment, tours and science and technology demonstrations.
Joe McBrearty, the President and CEO of CNL, is thanking everyone who came out to see the Chalk River labs.
CNL is in the process of modernizing the campus at Chalk River through a $1.2-billion investment from AECL on behalf of the Government of Canada.
McBrearty says CNL is also pursuing exciting new research projects as part of a brand new corporate strategy known as Vision 2030.
CNL says Vision 2030 will detail how they intend to help address national priorities in clean energy, public health, environmental protection and national security.
McBrearty says this is an exciting time to work at CNL as they look to put the Chalk River Laboratories back on the map as an organization that can confront some of the most challenging issues in the world.
