Canada Day festivities returned to Arnprior’s Robert Simpson Park, live for the first time in two years under a nice breeze with high overcast conditions.
Official opening ceremonies followed the arrival of the Children’s Bike Parade, with Mayor Walter Stack taking the podium shortly after Noon to present two awards.
The Senior of the Year Award is an annual tradition at Canada Day.
This year’s winner is Josee Scott, for her role with the Arnprior Library.
Mayor Stack says the Town Award is seldom presented- and only to the most deserving.
He then read a list of volunteer and service accomplishments that predated the winner’s 2010 election to Arnprior Town Council, and have continued in that context ever since.
The 2022 Town Award winner is Oldies 107.7 Manager, and three-term municipal councillor, Lynn Grinstead.
And with the afternoon came sunshine- and sunburn or sunscreen to make the day as perfect as possible.
