A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew.
The outbreak was confirmed on Saturday (January 22nd, 2022) and is one of many active outbreaks across Renfrew County and District.
Director of Long-Term Care with the County of Renfrew, Mike Blackmore, says there are 12 residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 and all are currently isolating on resident home area HM2 South.
He adds another 10 staff members currently have COVID-19 with varied return dates.
Blackmore says all staff and essential care givers entering the long-term care home are tested daily with a rapid antigen test (the provincial requirement is twice weekly).
Enhanced infection prevention and control measures have been implemented including:
- In room isolation as a precaution
- Tray service to rooms
- Enhanced cleaning of high touch surfaces
- Use of N95 mask / gown and eye protection in care areas.
- All hands on deck approach including 24/7 presence of management team onsite.
- Cohorting of staff in all departments.
Blackmore says staff and management are commended for their extraordinary effort and diligent commitment to containing spread.
Active COVID-19 outbreaks are also being monitored in a number of other high risk settings across Renfrew County and District.
The local health unit is aware of COVID-19 outbreaks at Valley Manor long-term care home, Carefor Civic Complex, Madonna House, Country Haven Retirement Home, Community Living (Upper Ottawa Valley, Renfrew South and Madawaska Valley), the Renfrew Victoria Hospital and the Grove long-term care home in Arnprior.
