A number of police units were involved in a major cannabis seizure in Kanata and Carleton Place last Wednesday (September 29th).
Members of the OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) along with members of the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit, OPP Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit, Ottawa OPP Detachment members, OPP Emergency Response Team and the Ottawa Police Tactical Unit executed search warrants at an industrial facility on Emily Street in Carleton Place and at a residence on Huntsman Crescent in Kanata.
Officers seized over 700-cannabis plants, nearly over 88-kilograms (nearly 200 pounds) of processed cannabis, 54-kilograms (120-pounds) of cannabis shake, large quantities of cannabis resin and cannabis edibles, several thousand dollars in cash, as well as growing and processing equipment. Four residents of Ottawa were arrested.
Ronald TREMPE, age 63, is charged with Possession for the purpose of distributing; Altering or offering to alter the chemical or physical properties of cannabis by the use of an organic solvent; Cultivation from seed; cultivating at a place that is not their dwelling; opioid possession and possession of property obtained by crime.
Marianne SLOAN, age 53 of Ottawa is charged with: Possession for the purpose of distributing; offering to procure cannabis; illicit cultivation; cultivating at a place that is not their dwelling, and opioid possession.
Both of these accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa on November 16, 2021.
Kayley TREMPE, age 22, and Justin MOORE, age 28, are each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on November 18, 2021.
