A request for an exemption to the Township of Greater Madawaska’s Noise Bylaw came before elected representatives at the municipal meeting Monday (August 16th).
Joe Fitzpatrick, of M. Sullivan and Son Construction, speaking from the dam site, asked for the special consideration, as construction of the upstream cofferdam core at the Calabogie Generating Station will require continuous 24 hours per day 7 days per week activity for approximately three weeks over the period from October 25th to November 15th.
Fitzpatrick advised the work would involve noise generated by an excavator and haul trucks, but could not confirm the decibel level this would involve.
He indicated no blasting would be involved in the process.
Council accepted his presentation as information, and Chief Administrative Officer Allison Holtzhauer said a staff report on the matter would be coming before Council in September to assist with its decision.
