Some business owners say they have mixed feelings after getting the green light from the province to reopen as COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease. Premier Doug Ford announced this week that nurseries, hardware, and safety supplies stores will be allowed to open shop again in the coming days, and all retail stores with a street entrance will be able to offer curbside pickup and delivery next week. Dennis Lapointe, the Owner of Country Home Gardens in Pembroke says they have decided NOT to open today, but instead continue to offer curbside pick up for orders placed ahead of time. Lapointe says they decided to continue the fight to flatten the curve.
Meanwhile, Hubert’s Springhill Nursery in Petawawa says they will be opening their doors. Employees will be wearing face masks and gloves and they are asking that parents not bring in small children.
Sunset Nursery, Garden Centre & Greenhouses plans to reopen on Saturday (May 9th). The store will be open on Saturday from 10-4 and Sunday from 10-4, however the fashion boutique will remain closed. Customers are asked to limit their time in store to under 20-minutes and large families and children under 10 will not be allowed at this time.
