Community Builder Omid McDonald grew up in downtown Ottawa, and now lives in the city’s West End- a relatively short commute to Almonte, where he founded Dairy Distilleries.
McDonald comes from a tech and IT background, but enjoys the hands-on of bringing an idea to life.
That idea was taking milk particulate- a perfectly useful commodity that was until recently being dumped as waste byproduct, and giving it a future on LCBO shelves across Ontario.
Vodkow is the result, and patrons enjoy its smooth, creamy taste.
McDonald say Almonte was a willing host for the Vodkow initiative, and he wants to give back as much as the firm has received.
The giving opportunity came to the fore when it was realized that denatured alcohol is a principle ingredient in hand sanitizer- and hand sanitizer is in big demand due to the on-going COVID-19 crisis.
