After a couple years of work and many months of full closure, the historic Five-Span Bridge in Pakenham is set to reopen today at 5 p.m.
Phase 2 of the rehabilitation project has wrapped up and in a social media post, the municipality says it’s ready to welcome residents and visitors once again.
The reconstruction work included masonry and stone repairs, a new road surface, better road approaches for smoother travel and new lighting underneath the bridge.
The new lights are customizable to mark holidays, days of awareness and special events. Outside of special moments, the lights will be a standard warm white for visibility.
